The Science Behind Procrastination with Tim Urban

In today’s episode, we have Tim Urban. He is one of the most popular bloggers in the US. He’s got a TED talk about procrastination and is here today to clear up why human beings procrastinate, why we don’t feel motivated, and why we don’t get things done. He’s also going to explain the evolutionary science behind procrastination, how to cultivate a sense of urgency, and how we can override our own voice of procrastination.

Even Elon Musk follows Tim’s blog, so learn how to get out of your own way, outsmart yourself, and just take action!

What You’ll Learn

Timeline of Procrastination.

According to Tim, our brain is not wired to do the obvious. We have to train ourselves.

Sharing what Tim knows about Procrastination

Tim started sharing his experiences through sharing his stories with his friends through emails. Then he started a blog which got him a bigger audience.

Tim created characters for the blog to emphasize the visualization they represent and the state or stage a person is currently in when they are procrastinating.

The Science Behind Procrastination

According to Tim, his analogy on procrastination is that it is also an ongoing process like evolution.  Long ago, humans would get instant gratification for food and basic needs, unlike today, where you do not have to do much to get things done.
